Welcome to flåttkart.no
Welcome to flåttkart.no – a website where anyone can report tick observations on humans, pets, and other animals. The service was launched by the Norwegian Tick Centre (National Centre for Tick-borne Diseases) in 2022.
The data collected will, over time, provide valuable information about the geographical distribution of the castor bean tick (Ixodes ricinus) in Norway, seasonal variations, and indicate areas with high or low risk of tick bites. You can report observations on yourself, on dogs or cats, or on wildlife, which may be particularly relevant for hunters. Both ticks that have attached and ticks crawling on skin, clothing, or fur can be reported. It is also possible to upload a photo of the tick.
The project was funded by NorthTick, an Interreg/EU project supported by the European Regional Development Fund and the North Sea Region Programme 2014–2020. The Tick Centre (National Centre for Tick-borne Diseases) was a partner in NorthTick from 2019 to 2023. To date, more than 17,000 tick observations have been reported.
The aim of this citizen science project is to create an interactive tick map for Norway based on data collected and submitted by the public. To map tick observations as broadly and accurately as possible, we hope that as many people as possible will contribute to the project.
All submissions are completely anonymous, and no personal data is stored. Therefore, no individual feedback is provided.
